Five signs it’s time to move...

Can you feel it? That insistent, recurring desire to pack up, move on and start a new life in a new home? One thing’s for sure: if the ‘it’s time to move’ bug hits, it’s only a matter of when – not if! Here’s our top five signs it’s time to start thinking about starting over and selling your home:

1 You’re pushed for space

As families grow, a home that initially felt like a spacious mansion can suddenly feel like a shoebox. If your cupboards are bulging and you’re forever stuffing things in costly storage, it might be time to consider an upsize.

2 Shared bedrooms

When kids are little, shared bedrooms are a great idea. They save space and encourage siblings to get along and learn to share – but this harmony can’t last forever. As they grow older – particularly if there’s an age gap – cabin fever may set in, and before long they’re asking for their own rooms. It’s hard to blame them, really: teenagers need space of their own to study and relax. If things are starting to get difficult, it could be time to find a home with more bedrooms.

3 No birds left in the nest

Eventually, your children will leave home – opting for freedom and independence with friends or a partner. Downsizing after your children have left home is a popular choice among aging Australians – giving you the chance to free up some equity for that special holiday home purchase, save for a rainy day, and find a comfy home to grow old in.  Just don’t forget a guest bedroom for when those birds fly home for the occasional feed!

4 Green thumbing

Dream of spending your afternoons pruning and planting? Moving to a home with a sizable garden can brighten up your weekends – or retirement years – and gives you a passion project that’s great for your health and happiness.

5 Neighbours

Occasionally, altercations with neighbours can make living in your home problematic. If Boris from next door has blocked your driveway one too many times or you’re sick of hearing parties from the students across the road, think about moving on. A happy neighbourhood makes for a happy home, after all.

The spring and summer selling season offer great conditions for vendors, as the property market heats up with robust competition. If you’ve got the ‘moving bug’, let us assist your transition from halfway house to forever home.
